3 Simple Tips for a Healthy Mouth This Holiday Season

From our team at Pro Grace Dentistry to you and your loved ones, we wish you a happy and healthy holiday season! It’s been another great year of serving our clients and helping them achieve and maintain good oral hygiene. As a local dentist in Calgary’s NW community, we appreciate your support and look forward to continue providing you with exceptional service in 2023!

With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it can be easy to let our dental care needs fall to the wayside. However, now is the time to pay close attention to your oral health with the abundance of treats and sugary drinks. Here are some simple tips to maintain you rural health during the holidays.

1. Stick to your dental routine

One of the best things you can do for your dental health during the holidays is to stick to your dental hygiene routine inbetween dental cleanings. Continue to brush and floss daily, drink lots of water, and use mouthwash. By keeping up with your oral regime, you’ll also avoid the difficult task of trying to get back on track with your health habits come the new year.

2. Drink lots of water after eating

Drinking water after indulging in your favourite desserts helps wash away the sugar and starch in your mouth, which is what bacteria (plaque) feeds on. Plaque turns the sugar and starch into acid, which is what breaks down teeth enamel and causes cavities. Be sure to drink plenty of water – your teeth and your body will thank you!

3. Schedule a pre-holiday checkup

Last but certainly not least, book an appointment with us and get a last-minute dental assessment before the holidays. Prevention is key when it comes to maintaining excellent oral health for life. Having a pre-holiday checkup will help reassure you that your oral hygiene is exactly the way it should be, and just in time for the holidays.

We hope you have a spectacular holiday season. We are accepting new patients in the new year, so if you have friends or relatives who require any dental work or oral care treatment, please don’t hesitate to refer them to us.

Thank you and happy holidays!
