The goal of restorative dentistry in Calgary is, quite literally, to ‘restore’ the natural function of your teeth, improve the health of your gums, and enhance your smile. While cosmetic dentistry focuses on aesthetics, restorative dental services aim to help you achieve a healthy set of teeth and gums for life.
At Pro Grace Dentistry, our restorative dental services include the following treatments.
A dental crown is an effective and simple way to cover a damaged or decayed tooth for both aesthetic and structural purposes. They are also secured on dental implants to replace missing teeth. A dental crown can be made of porcelain, ceramic, metal, or resin and is glued in between your natural teeth to replace the missing tooth using high-grade dental cement.
If you’re missing one or more teeth, a dental bridge is used to fill in the gap. The end pieces of the bridge are typically hollow so they can be secured over your natural teeth, dental crowns, or dental implants on each side.
If you’re missing one or more teeth, dental implants offer the strongest and most reliable restorative solution that can last a lifetime. An artificial tooth root, typically made from titanium, is surgically ‘implanted’ into your jaw, beneath the gum line, rather than resting on top of your gum line like dentures.
Once the artificial root is embedded and healed, the artificial tooth (also called a crown) is secured on top of the implant. Patients enjoy the natural look of dental implants and the functionality it brings, including being able to eat their favourite foods again.
Patients must have a healthy jawbone structure to be a candidate for dental implants - however, bone grafting is an option.
Dentures are one of the most common and popular restorative dental options that can replace all the teeth on both the bottom and top gum lines. Early denture designs involved removing them overnight and placing them in a cup with a cleaning solution.
Today, dentures can be fixed and permanently supported by dental implants. At Pro Grace Dentistry, we offer partial dentures (to replace a few missing teeth) and full dentures (to replace all of the teeth).
All of the above are strong and effective restorative options for replacing missing teeth - the right one will depend on your budget, your goals, and of course, your comfort level with any surgery involved. Give us a call to book your first consultation and let’s get you closer to the smile you’ve always wanted!
"If there were 6 stars, I would rate Pro Grace with that. Everyone, from the front desk to the surgeon were very knowledgeable and welcoming. It made my visit that much more enjoyable."
